TWDC has been active in South Africa for over 50 years.  In 2011 TWDC added two new channels to the Multichoice DStv platform: Disney XD and Disney Junior.  Together with Disney Channel, which celebrated its 5th birthday in September 2011, TWDC is the leading provider of children’s TV channels in South Africa.  Disney is one of the top distributors of US programming in the region, and brings network series, movies and Disney-branded kids and family content to TV viewers.  These include top rating US network series such as Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives, both of which ranked among the top 10 series on Mnet in 2011.

Disney’s film distribution arm is the leader for family movies in South Africa. Recent successes include the live action title Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which grossed over R24 million in the box office and was the third highest grossing film in South Africa during 2011.  Recent animated releases include Tangled and Cars 2 which both ranked in the top four grossing animated titles for 2011 in South Africa.  2011 also saw the return of The Lion King to cinemas – for the first time in 3D, with additional launches on DVD and Blu Ray.  To find out more about all things Disney, South African kids, tweens and families can visit the dedicated website

About Wonder Workshop

In 2012 Co-Founder & CEO Vikas Gupta saw the gap in tools that help children learn to code at a young age. Existing products were complex and were not effective for children under the age of 10. At the same time, there was a growing trend across the world to introduce coding to children in elementary schools. Working with co-founders Saurabh Gupta and Mikal Greaves, they determined they needed to move away from complex, hard-to-use DIY robotics kits, and give children a compelling robot, with real capabilities and a real personality, along with programming languages designed with children in mind.

Every child should have the opportunity to find delight in computer science and robotics. Computer Science is the 21st century building block that gives a child the power to create, be curious, and succeed. We understand that children learn through play. We create robotics and hands-on play that make computer science accessible to young, curious minds. Wonder Workshop’s robots engage every child right out of the box. Our thoughtful design guarantees that the fun keeps pace as your child grows.

We code in kid speak. Dash and Dot are real robots that every child can program using coding languages we invented for the young minds. Dash and Dot cost a mere fraction of existing robotics kits, and with the ease of use of a toy, Dash and Dot turn robotics into every child’s play.
